Consultation on parking restrictions for Windmill Lane and nearby roads is imminent. It should take about six weeks for consultations to be completed. Restrictions may be put in place in Fleece Road but at a later date depending on funding.

The LDRA is applying for planning permission at a revised location next to the current notice board by Manny’s store.

There are still a lot of deep potholes that needed filling in. Residents are encouraged to report them via the Surrey County Council website www.surreycc.gov.uk and to inform Cllr Peter Hickman if no action is taken. Hedges that overhang footpaths can also be reported to SCC.

The new contract for street lighting is now in place and Elmbridge is second in line to get the new lamp posts, starting in 2011. There will be different styles in keeping with different street environments. More information can be found on the SCC website www.surreycc.gov.uk by doing a search on ‘lamp posts’ from the home page. Residents can also now report faulty lamp posts on the website.

Temporary classrooms are being used at Cranmere School and Thames Ditton and the addition of permanent extra classrooms at Cranmere is being looked at. A significant number of children from outside Surrey are attending Long Ditton Infant School.

There are a number of planning issues concerning the activities of the nursery that the LDRA are taking an interest in. Gingko Garden Centre and Scotscape either have to submit a planning application or cease the activity that contravenes planning regulations. SCC is monitoring the situation.

The application for a two-storey car park has been approved, but with a number of conditions including the provision of some staff parking. The other outstanding application, for changing the front of the Mini building, is still awaiting a decision.

There has been considerable discussion at LDRA committee meetings about the proposals for this site. A group of residents asked St James Homes for access to the site but were refused and 8-foot boards were erected across the entrance. LDRA objects to the development as it threatens green space. A resident was nominated to speak in opposition to the plans at the Elmbridge Planning Sub-committee on 6 September; the application was refused.
