It is with sadness that we announce the death of Tony Solly on Saturday 14 May from a heart attack. Tony was a keen supporter of the LDRA over a number of years, as president and before that as secretary. The funeral will take place on Tuesday 31 May at 2.45pm at Randalls Park Crematorium, Randalls Road, Leatherhead, KT22 0AG. Rather than flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Princess Alice Hospice. Cheques should be made payable to Princess Alice Hospice and should be sent to:

Elmbridge Borough Council (EBC) is requesting residents’ help in promoting its Residents’ Panel.  The panel is made up of local residents and EBC asks for their views on the council’s services two or three times a year. This could be about anything the council is working on, e.g. council priorities, budget, recycling, crime.  It is part of the council’s drive to make it easier for residents to ‘Have Your Say’.
In particular EBC is trying to promote an online panel as this is an extremely cost effective and environmentally friendly form of consultation. The link to join the online panel is www.elmbridge.gov.uk/consult (enter in browser not search engine).  If any residents would like to join but do not have computer access they can join the postal panel by ringing the council on  01372 474394.

St Mary’s Junior School, Sugden Road, KT7 0AD

** ALL WELCOME! **

We anticipate that our county and borough councillors will be present as usual.

Topics for discussion will include:

  • St James Homes proposed new development of 24 houses off Windmill Lane
  • Parking Phase 2 – Windmill Lane, Prospect Road and Ditton Reach
  • SCC street lighting replacement programme
  • The Long Ditton map

The meeting will start with a police ‘Neighbourhood Panel Meeting’. This will be run by PC Katie Kennedy who will brief us on current police matters as she sees them. This is your chance to make the police aware of what you perceive to be specific problems.

At the April committee meeting a resident expressed the view that the new restrictions had led to increased speeding and it was suggested that he take this up with the police as a traffic issue. Councillor Shweta Kapadia highlighted a new problem of commuters parking in the recreation ground car park. It was noted that Southbank car park charges had been much reduced.
