Travellers on Long Ditton Recreation Ground
UPDATE FROM ‘THE HEAD OF LEISURE & CULTURAL SERVICES’ AT ElMBRIDGE COUNCIL:
The Council has been granted a hearing date for Wednesday 8 August by Guildford Magistrates Court who will hear the Council’s application for an order for removal of persons and their vehicles unlawfully on land at Long Ditton Recreation Ground.
- Following a successful application, the travellers will be served with a removal order which will authorise the Council (and agents contracted on the Council’s behalf) to remove them from the land.
- Should the travellers decide not to leave voluntarily, action will be taken to remove the travellers from the land as soon as possible.
- Further information will be available after the hearing.
- Access to water to meet the groups needs, and bins have been provided to mitigate the environmental impact that may arise from the encampment.
- A full clear up of the site will be scheduled for as soon as the site is secured.
- Surrey Police have been made aware of the encampment and will be monitoring regularly
- Please report any anti social behaviour via the encampments web page and these will be collated and passed on to the police

As of Friday 3rd August 2018, travellers have accessed and encamped on Long Ditton Recreation Ground. Elmbridge Council are aware and have an application for removal.
